When she stands, space adjusts around her. I approached this work with awareness. I am not defining her. I am honoring what I have witnessed, what has shaped me, what has protected and guided me. The profile is intentional. She is lifted. Composed. Certain of herself. The robes are regal. They speak to lineage and self-possession. The patchwork of color and pattern reflects the layers Black women carry. History, softness, brilliance, endurance, beauty. No single texture can contain that complexity. Together they form something whole. The background remains still so nothing competes with her gravity. She does not demand attention. She holds it.
